Welcome to my blog 🙂

As my little tag line says, I am a musician, vegan, and fitness enthusiast. Like anyone else, I am not only these things, but they encompass most of the topics I would like to share with you. So, let me explain each one a bit:

1. Musician: I am a professional flutist and have been playing for about 15 years now. I have both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in performance, and am currently in school getting a second master’s degree in musicology (focusing on music history in the Western world). I also teach private flute lessons to kids of all ages, no matter if they intend to grow up to become performers or simply want to learn an instrument for recreational purposes. While not everyone who visits my blog can necessarily relate to the life a professional musician, I think the hard work it takes translates easily, and the internal struggle to do something you love and be financially and personally successful at it is something to which we can all relate.

2. Vegan: Most people don’t go around saying, “Hi, my name is _____, and now let me describe for you my eating habits….” I don’t either, but my lifestyle choice is one worth debating and sharing with others, so I’m choosing to do so here. Friends and family often ask me about what I eat, or what CAN I eat, or why it is I’ve chosen to restrict my food intake in this way. The more I explore veganism, the less restricted I feel, and I have yet to come upon an argument that obliterates my reasoning for the way I eat. So, I would like to share with you those reasons over time, as well as recipes and tricks that I’ve learned, and websites/blogs that I enjoy reading that have helped me along the way. This is not in an effort to convert others to veganism, but rather to shed light so that you may explore food in a different way.

3. Fitness Enthusiast: I’m not sure I like the terminology I’ve chosen for this one as of yet, but we’re going to go with it anyway. Part of the reason I’ve combined these three things into one blog is because they’ve all informed one another, particularly in the realm of diet and fitness better informing my flute playing. I’ve long sought for a healthier existence as a musician and as a career-driven woman, and it comes down to the things that are within your control in your life. Two of the most important aspects are what you put in your body and what you do with your body (and yes, this includes mindset). So with that, I will share my little revelations and tips that I’ve learned on the path of becoming somebody who is more fit and able and who has struggled with going up and down in weight quite a bit.

Most of all, I’m glad you’ve taken the time to visit and if you have any questions/comments/concerns, feel free to comment or e-mail me, and I’ll do my best to get back with you or cater my posts to your curiosities!

PS-I have two cats, who of course, will have some blog time here and there:

Noonan; Noodle; Noo-dizzle; Evil.

Kittaroo; Ms. Roo; Roo Monster; Ms. Kitty O’Shea.
